Bookcases made in Britain around the turn of the twentieth century, mostly mahogany or oak, built to hold books in the studies, offices and small sitting rooms of middle-class houses.
One-offs from the archive include a headmaster's office bookcase, a shop-fitting bookcase, a revolving one called a 'bird cage', and an extending pair of novel rests.
