A fine and rare early 18th century walnut writing cabinet secretaire.
 
c1720-1730.
 
Wonderful use of beautifully patinated burr and highly figured walnut on this very handsome cabinet.
 
Having a moulded cornice over two raised and fielded panelled doors, framed by cross and feather-banding, with original working lock and key, which open to reveal an abundance of storage drawers and shelves within. To the back are 10 solid oak drawers, with original brass handles, fronted by 2 sliding shelves, which can be adjusted to suit size or completely removed. These are over a ledge with a further six larger drawers, also oak lined and having the most glorious burr-walnut fronts with feather banding and retaining the original brass handles.
 
 
The secretaire drawer section fits the same key that fits the cabinet section, which pulls out and opens to reveal a quality fitted interior, with an arrangement of 5 figured walnut fronted drawers, with or...
