Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chippendale style furniture originates from the 18th-century designs of English cabinetmaker Thomas Chippendale, combining mid-Georgian cabinetmaking with Gothic, Rococo, and Chinese influences. Key traits include cabriole legs, claw-and-ball feet, and intricate relief carving.

These stools are commonly crafted from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, featuring carved aprons and legs. Upholstery frequently utilises natural leather, velvet, or needlepoint fabrics secured with brass upholstery tacks.

Period Georgian pieces feature hand-carved detailing with subtle hand-tooling irregularities, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and natural age patination on the timber. Genuine 18th-century examples display weight consistent with dense mahogany alongside hand-cut construction details.

A Chippendale stool serves as a textural accent when placed alongside modern streamlined armchairs, within a dressing room, or near a fireplace hearth. Its rich leather surface and carved silhouette create historical contrast within modern or eclectic interior schemes.

Dust the carved wooden framework regularly with a lint-free cloth and apply beeswax polish periodically to protect the finish. Treat the leather upholstery with a dedicated leather conditioner to prevent drying and maintain flexibility.
