Antique crystal should be washed by hand in warm water using mild soap, avoiding harsh chemicals and sudden temperature changes, and dried with a lint-free cloth to maintain clarity.

These pieces can be displayed on a sideboard top or bar cart to introduce reflective texture and historical contrast into a modern scheme.

Authenticity is generally verified by examining the silver collars for British hallmarks, which indicate the assay office, date letter, and makers mark, alongside the presence of hand-blown pontil marks and weighty, high-lead content crystal.

Antique decanters of this era were typically crafted from heavy lead crystal or glass featuring complex hand-cut facets, paired with collars and stoppers made from sterling silver.

The Edwardian period, spanning from 1901 to 1910, is characterised by elegance, refinement, and an appreciation for intricate craftsmanship, often reflecting the opulent tastes of the late British empire.
