Welsh Oak Press Cupboard

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Havard and Havard

Handsome and practical, this fine oak cupboard, made in two sections, has a number of good details: a broad cornice with two rows of dentil moulding, a pair of doors with raised or fielded panels, the upper ones with ogee arches, flanked by fluted quadrant pilasters above three dummy drawers. The lower half has an attractive arrangement of six drawers and bracket feet. The sides are also panelled. At some point, the brass drawer handles have been replaced and the internal shelves removed to create hanging space. West Wales, probably Carmarthenshire or Cardiganshire, circa 1760-1800.
