Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian jewellery, produced between 1714 and 1830, is defined by hand-crafted techniques, intricate metalwork, and the use of natural gemstones cut by hand. Designs frequently featured motifs such as garlands, drops, and delicate chainwork tailored for formal evening wear.

These necklaces were typically constructed using high-carat gold or silver-topped gold settings. The gemstones, such as precious topaz or citrine, were set in collets, often with foil backing to enhance colour depth and brilliance under candlelight.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut gemstones with irregular facets, closed-back or early open-back collet settings, and a lack of modern machine precision. Original Georgian pieces also lack modern hallmarks, displaying maker marks or gold purity stamps specific to the era when present.

A Georgian gemstone necklace can be worn as a statement piece alongside simple modern evening wear or minimalist necklines. Layering historical gold jewellery with contemporary understated gold chains creates a balanced blend of period and modern aesthetics.

Clean antique gemstone jewellery gently using a soft, dry lint-free cloth, avoiding liquid cleaners or ultrasonic machines which can damage historic settings. Store the piece flat in a soft-lined box away from direct sunlight, extreme humidity, and contact with harder gemstones.
