A Fine Pair Of Satsuma Vases With Peacocks, Foliage And Floral Decoration

This attractive and fine pair of Satsuma vases date to the late Meiji or early Taisho period (1890 - 1920) and are delicately decorated with peacocks and foliage - in Buddhism peacocks are an emblem of the deity Kujaku Myoo. As you can see from the images the underside of each vase bear a cartouche incorporating the word ''Zan''. They are in lovely condition and have an appealing understated quality to them.
