This French Baroque Revival chandelier dates from around 1880 in the 19th century. Made from gilt bronze and brass, the fixture presents a gold colour scheme with a tiered arrangement of eighteen lights. The structure incorporates a central baluster stem, graceful scrollwork arms supporting faux candle sleeves, and cast finials underneath the lower tiers, complemented by intricate mouldings throughout the metalwork. Measuring 70 cm high, 65 cm wide, and 65 cm deep, the chandelier works well suspended in a formal dining room, entrance hall, or grand reception space to provide ambient overhead illumination. The piece arrives fully wired for modern electrical installation while maintaining its period French Chateau aesthetic.

Lighting from this era frequently drew inspiration from Rococo and Baroque designs, featuring heavy bronze castings finished with gilding, dramatic scrollwork arms, and multiple tiers for maximum light dispersion.

These fixtures were predominantly crafted using cast bronze or brass, which was subsequently chased, polished, and finished with mercury gilding or gold lacquer, accompanied by ceramic or card candle sleeves.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-chased casting details, noticeable weight due to solid bronze construction, subtle oxidisation in recesses, and historical wiring or gas-pipe conversions along the rear of the frame.

A substantial metallic chandelier serves as an anchor in rooms with high ceilings, pairing effectively with neutral plaster walls, contemporary dining tables, or traditional architectural moulding.

Dust regularly using a dry, soft-bristled brush or microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleansers or abrasive polishes that can wear away the delicate gilded layer.
