FAQs

Antique brass table lamps often reflect design movements from the Victorian, Edwardian, or Neoclassical periods, frequently featuring cast metalwork and classical motifs adapted for domestic lighting.

Authentic period pieces are typically crafted from cast brass or bronze, sometimes with a gilt finish, and assembled using threaded rods or traditional weighting methods in the base for stability.

Authenticity is assessed through surface wear, natural patina, the weight of the casting, old wiring methods, and makers marks or registration numbers stamped into the metal.

Such pieces can be paired with contemporary lampshades to create a striking contrast, adding metallic warmth and textural depth to modern sideboards, desks, or bedside tables.

Preservation involves dusting gently with a soft dry cloth, avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners that strip the historic patina, and ensuring the electrical components are tested by a professional.
