Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced between 1830 and 1837, William IV furniture bridges the transition between the refined restraint of the Regency era and the heavier ornamentation of early Victorian design. Characteristics include robust proportions, carved scrollwork, acanthus leaf motifs, and prominent flame mahogany veneers.

Cabinetmakers during this period typically utilised solid mahogany framing paired with decorative flame mahogany veneers. Construction details often feature hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, solid pine or oak secondary timbers, and steel or brass locking mechanisms.

Authentic pieces display hand-carved elements, such as scroll galleries and carved feet, alongside original lock plates and timber back panels showing hand-sawn marks. Flame mahogany veneers were carefully book-matched on door panels to highlight natural grain patterns.

A historical side cupboard functions effectively as hallway storage, a dining room server, or a living room alcove cabinet. Pairing dark timber with contemporary wall art or neutral decor creates a balanced contrast within modern schemes.

Dust surfaces regularly using a clean, soft dry cloth. Apply a high-quality natural beeswax polish once or twice a year, rubbing gently along the grain direction, and position the timber away from direct heat sources or damp environments.
