As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this large scale pair of Meiji Period 1868-1912 Satsuma vases by the well recorded artist Kizan, this opposing true pair of vases are decorated in fantastic detail throughout depicting mountainous landscape in the distance with multiple boats a sail and fishermen working away in typical lakeside scenes, families to the foreground amidst pavilions & pine trees with bijin and children shading beneath wonderfully decorated prunus (cherry blossom)trees , the scenes captured between geometric gilt borders, the shoulders decorated in mixed native flora beneath gilt rims, each vase signed to the underside by Kizan , these vases have lost none of their beauty despite the larger scale of the vases, the enamel detail to the trees is as sharp as you would wish, a fine quality and condition pair of vases to decorate your Japanese themed room or as an addition to your ceramic or Japanese works of art collection.
