Etched Crystal & Silver Plated Double Ended Biscuit Barrel

1900 - 1920
Description

Handsome & rare biscuit barrel by Tom Rodes Roberts and James Williams Dore (R & D Ltd) of Sheffield, England circa 1908-1912. The double biscuit barrel lids are each embossed with flowers & leaves surrounding a shield. Etched crystal glass design to body.

There is a piece of chain attached to each hinged lid and either one side or both sides can be opened with one hand.

The underside shows the makers marks plus the codes for date & Sheffield, as well as the number “1853”.

This one measures 28cm (11inches) tall x 28cm (11 inches) wide.

This is a true antique of great quality showing some minor wear to the plating on the foot but otherwise in exceptional condition.
