Georgian Flame Mahogany Linen Press

Description

-Welcome to Mersham Manor Antiques-

An elegant George III mahogany linen press.

c.1780.

Constructed from solid mahogany.

The panelled double doors having cross-banded ovals with flame figuring. The doors open to reveal five mahogany slides. The slides each open smoothly. The doors have the original brass flush bolt locks to the left door, with working brass lock and key to the right door.

Below is a chest of four drawers-two short and two long. With cock-beading and the original brass swan-neck handles. All drawers are oak lined, of dove-tail construction and open smoothly and easily.

Standing on bracket-feet.

Very easy to move as it can be dismantled into three sections.

Excellent antique condition. Very fresh and new internally. Replaced escutcheons.

The dimensions are-

Height-200cm

Width including cornice-136.5cm. Widest part of base section-135.5cm.

Depth including cornice-61.5cm. Depth of base section-61cm.
