Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Rococo Revival candelabra from the nineteenth century are characterized by asymmetric scrollwork, foliate motifs, and figurative elements such as cherubs or putti. The style draws inspiration from eighteenth-century French Louis XV designs, featuring elaborate casting and dual-tone metal finishes.

These items were predominantly crafted from cast bronze or brass using the lost-wax or sand-casting methods. Decorative finishes were achieved through mercury gilding (ormolu) and silver plating, followed by hand-chasing to refine fine surface details.

Authentic period pieces display crisp hand-chased details, threaded assembly rods with hand-cut nuts, and weight consistent with solid cast metal. Look for age-appropriate wear to gilding on high points and natural patination in recessed areas.

Pairing antique candelabra with modern elements creates balanced visual contrast on a fireplace mantelpiece, sideboard, or dining table. Placing them alongside minimalist ceramics or modern artwork anchors classical metalwork within contemporary spaces.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or horsehair brush to prevent dust accumulation. Avoid abrasive chemical polishes or water immersion, as these treatments strip original gilding and alter historical patination.
