This antique Caucasian Fachralo Kazak long rug from circa 1900 is hand-knotted from wool. The piece displays a rich red field set with three navy blue geometric medallions, accompanied by elaborate borders containing latch-hook motifs and niche medallion patterns. The visible palette includes deep red, navy blue, white, and soft muted tones in the detailed border elements and central motifs. Slight even wear and good pile indicate its age and careful preservation. Measuring 260 cm high by 155 cm wide and 1 cm deep, this rectangular floor covering suits placement in a living room, hallway, or study within an English Country House interior. The hand-washed item arrives ready for functional floor placement or decorative display on any suitable flat surface.

Fachralo Kazak rugs originate from the Caucasus region, specifically crafted by village weavers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These textiles are famed for their bold geometric compositions, central niche or medallion motifs, and rich natural dyes.

Authentic Kazak rugs are constructed entirely from hand-spun wool, utilizing wool for both the pile and the warp and weft foundation. The vibrant reds, blues, and ivory shades are achieved through natural vegetable and mineral dyes.

Authentic pieces feature a flexible all-wool foundation, thick wool pile, symmetrical knotting, and characteristic color variations known as abrash. Look for distinct geometric patterns such as latch-hooks, stepped medallions, and central niche framing.

A vibrant geometric Kazak rug acts as a visual anchor in modern, minimalist, or eclectic rooms. Layering it over light neutral floorboards or beneath contemporary furniture creates striking contrast and structural warmth.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating beater bar to protect the pile fibers. Use a high-quality rug pad underneath to prevent slipping and wear, and consult a professional restorer for cleaning.
