Phil Bell Antique Rugs has dated this Antique Gendje Rug Runner to the 1900s.
Light fields such as this are also desirable and the hexagonal lattice filled with multi-coloured stars is breath taking. The border shows Talish rosettes and one might be forgiven in making a South Eastern Caucasian attribution but the knot count and palette point to the more likely district of Gendje which was a melting pot of Caucasian designs. The beauty of this rug speaks for itself, one of the best I have owned to date.
Excellent condition with just a little re-piling of the black wool and a small edge repair.
