This Georgian dessert spoon is an eighteenth-century sterling silver piece in an English Country House style. The item displays a polished oval bowl, a tapered stem, and bottom hallmarks positioned just above the back of the bowl, alongside smooth silver surfaces without engraved armorials or initials. Measuring 17.5 cm high, 3.5 cm wide, and 1 cm deep, the spoon is suited for display on a sideboard top or for use in dining settings. The silver material exhibits a bright reflective sheen with visible grey and silver tones across the metal body. The handle narrows evenly toward the terminal, while the curved bowl maintains a smooth, rounded edge. The hallmarks near the neck remain legible, and the metal shows no visible dents or splits.

During the 18th century, British hallmarking regulations placed official assay stamps near the base of the bowl on the lower stem before the practice shifted higher up the handle in the late Georgian period.

Flatware from this era was hammer-forged from sterling silver, comprising 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with copper for structural durability.

Authentic period examples feature stamped hallmarks including a maker mark, lion passant, leopard head town mark, and date letter, typically displayed along the lower reverse stem.

Historic sterling silver flatware can be styled inside glass display cabinets or used alongside natural linen napery and ceramic tableware to create textural contrast.

Clean gently using a soft cotton cloth and specialized silver polish formulated to remove oxidisation without abrading the metal surface.
