FAQs

Chinese porcelain vase lamps originated as decorative ceramic vases, often produced during the Qing dynasty or Republic period, which were later adapted or specifically crafted into electric lighting fixtures during the early to mid-20th century.

These lamps typically feature hand-painted hard-paste porcelain bodies, mounted on cast brass or carved wooden bases, and fitted with brass electrical components and fabric or paper shades.

Authentic early 20th-century examples usually exhibit hand-painted cobalt brushwork under glaze rather than modern transfer prints, traditional brass mountings, and minor age-consistent surface variations.

Position a pair symmetrically on a dining room sideboard or console table to balance contemporary furniture with classical pattern, colour, and historic structure.

Dust the porcelain base regularly with a soft, dry cloth and gently wipe with a slightly damp microfibre cloth when required, avoiding harsh chemicals that could damage glazes or metal fittings.
