We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Art Deco barware from the 1930s is defined by bold geometric patterns, streamlined forms, and the integration of modern materials such as chrome-plated brass alongside clear or coloured glass. Designs often featured chevrons, speed lines, and contrasting enamel accents reflecting the machine-age aesthetic of the era.

Cocktail sets of this era were predominantly constructed using pressed or blown glass, decorated with hand-applied enamel or frosted detailing. Metal components, such as shaker tops and strainers, were typically crafted from nickel-plated or chrome-plated brass.

Authentic period pieces often show light surface wear consistent with age, particularly rubbing on silver or chrome plating and slight irregularities in hand-applied enamel decoration. Original glass pieces typically possess substantial weight, seams from vintage moulding processes, and period-appropriate geometric styling.

An antique cocktail set serves as an excellent focal point when displayed on a metallic or mirrored bar cart, a mahogany sideboard top, or within a glass-fronted cabinet. Grouping the shaker alongside its matching stemware creates a curated vintage aesthetic.

Enamel-decorated glassware should always be hand washed in lukewarm water using a mild liquid soap. Avoid abrasive sponges, harsh chemical detergents, and dishwashers, as these can strip enamel paint and tarnish metal fittings over time.
