Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Art Deco silver-plated drinks tray dates from c1920 and originates from the maker CW Fletcher & Sons, bearing their marks alongside EPNS and Arundel Plate to the underside. Formed in a symmetrical eight-sided profile with a polished smooth surface, the item incorporates a stepped interior moulding alongside geometric corner accents and rests upon four distinctive angled feet positioned at the outer corners. Measuring 31.5 cm across, the piece presents a clean metallic tone and displays light, natural signs of use consistent with its period. Suitably sized for everyday domestic display, the tray functions effectively atop a sideboard, bar cart or occasional table to present glassware and drinks accessories within a living area or dining space. Its geometric styling brings an authentic 1920s aesthetic to contemporary interior schemes, integrating smoothly into modern entertaining settings.

FAQs

Art Deco silver plated barware reflects the design movements of the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by clean geometric shapes, symmetrical proportions, stepped borders, and uncluttered reflective surfaces that mirrored the modern industrial aesthetic.

During the 1920s, cocktail trays were predominantly manufactured using electroplated nickel silver (EPNS), solid sterling silver, chrome-plated brass, or early plastics such as Bakelite for handles and accents.

Authentic pieces generally display maker marks, purity or plating stamps such as EPNS, structural geometric silhouettes, and precise hand-finished or stamped construction details typical of early 20th-century manufacturing.

An Art Deco tray can be placed on a sideboard, coffee table, or bar cart to group crystal decanters and glassware, creating an organised focal point that adds metallic warmth to modern schemes.

Silver plated items should be cleaned with a soft cloth and a specialized silver polish, avoiding abrasive pads or harsh chemicals that can wear down the delicate silver layer. Store in dry environments to prevent rapid tarnish.
