Antique silver salad servers are paired dining utensils designed for tossing and serving salads, typically consisting of a large spoon and a matching fork with broad tines. Historically produced from silver or silver plate, these sets often featured decorative motifs or hand-hammered details tailored to formal dining etiquette.

These utensils were commonly crafted from solid sterling silver, nickel silver, or electroplated base metals. Construction techniques involved hand-raising, casting for ornamental ferrules and handles, and hand-planishing or hammering to add decorative surface texture.

Authentic pieces usually bear makers marks, purity hallmarks, or electroplate stamps on the reverse of the handles or bowls. The weight, hand-finished joints between the handle and bowl, and subtle signs of natural surface wear or patination also indicate age.

In modern settings, silver serveware can be displayed on a sideboard as part of a dining collection or integrated into contemporary tablescapes alongside ceramic and linen tableware to create contrast.

Clean silver using a gentle silver polish applied with a soft cotton cloth, avoiding abrasive pads that can scratch the surface. Wash thoroughly in warm water, dry immediately to prevent water spots, and store in tarnish-resistant cloth bags.
