Antique 20th Century Mahogany Glazed Bookcase | by Globe Wernicke

Antique 20th century stacking barrister bookcase in mahogany by Globe-Wernicke, a handsome and well-made piece of excellent quality, showcasing the fine craftsmanship this famous maker is known for.

The bookcase is made up of three stacking sections, each enclosed by a leaded glass door with a small brass knob that lifts up and slides back into the case, keeping books and collections protected from dust while on display.

It is finished with a shaped cornice to the top and a moulded plinth base, with the sections held together by metal clips at the sides. The bookcase bears the Globe-Wernicke 'Always Complete But Never Finished' globe label, marked London and Made in England.

The mahogany displays an attractive grain and a warm, rich colour with a lovely aged patina, set off beautifully by the diamond pattern of the leaded glass.

The bookcase comes apart in sections, the cornice, three bookcase sections and the base, which makes delivery and access much easier. Presented in good condition. A very desirable and collectable bookcase, perfect for a study, library or living room.
