Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of Victorian bookcase cabinets uses warm brown oak with visible grain and a polished finish. Each low cabinet rests on a plinth base and contains adjustable interior shelving behind glazed twin doors fitted with small brass handles. The upper edge holds a pierced brass gallery rail, while decorative carved wooden corbels sit just beneath the top surface. The cabinets show light surface wear from age and use, and the glass doors may be removed to create open shelving units. Standing 124 cm high, 161 cm wide, and 38 cm deep, these sturdy storage pieces function well in a home study, library, living room, or hallway to display books and decorative objects.

Victorian glazed bookcases typically feature solid timber construction, glass-fronted doors designed to protect volumes from dust, and classical architectural details such as plinth bases and carved corbels.

Craftsmen primarily utilised durable hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, paired with tongue-and-groove timber backboards, hand-fitted glass panes, and solid brass hardware.

Look for hand-joined construction details, original brass fitments, slight irregularities in antique glass panes, and natural patination along base mouldings and handles.

Position them side-by-side or flanking a central architectural feature to create symmetrical balance, using the top surface to display table lamps, ceramics, or framed artwork.

Apply a natural beeswax polish along the wood grain twice yearly, polish brass elements lightly with a dry cloth, and clean glass panels using a damp microfibre cloth without harsh chemicals.
