Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Regency side cabinet is constructed from dark brown rosewood with glass and brass elements. The rectangular piece stands 99 cm high, 109 cm wide, and 41 cm deep. A figured timber top sits above a pair of glazed cabinet doors that enclose an interior with two adjustable shelves. Flanking the doors are reeded columns, while knulled edging decorates both the top and base mouldings. The cabinet is elevated on round turned feet and includes small brass hardware. This traditional storage unit functions well in a home study, living room, or hallway for displaying books or decorative objects while offering practical shelving space.

FAQs

Regency side cabinets, originating in early 19th-century Britain, are characterised by neoclassical symmetry, refined proportions, and decorative elements such as reeded columns, brass embellishments, and rich timber veneers like rosewood or mahogany.

These cabinets were predominantly crafted using high-grade timber veneers, notably Brazilian rosewood or Cuban mahogany, over an oak or pine substrate, combined with hand-blown glass panes and solid brass escutcheons or hinges.

Authentic Regency pieces typically feature hand-sawn secondary timber on the back and drawer linings, hand-cut dovetail joints, period-appropriate brass fittings, and natural patination or historic wear consistent with age.

A low glazed cabinet functions effectively as a focal point in a hallway, drawing room, or dining area, providing storage for books or ceramics while pairing harmoniously with both contemporary art and traditional furnishings.

Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and veneer bleaching. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year to maintain the wood surface.
