This clear cut crystal carafe dates from the 1920 period in an Art Deco style. The piece exhibits a flared rim, a wide flared base with a starburst cut pattern, and vertical fluted panels around the narrow neck. An etched Royal Cypher monogram beneath a crown decorates the upper body. The transparent glass shows light reflections along the faceted surfaces and vertical flutes. Measuring 20 cm high, the carafe serves as a functional display item for a gentleman's library or on a sideboard top in a modern home. Its compact proportions allow placement on side tables, cabinets, or dining surfaces for serving beverages or as a standalone decorative container.

Carafes originated as unstoppered glass or ceramic vessels used to serve water, wine, and other beverages at the dining table. During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, refined cut and etched glass versions became central components of formal British tableware.

Traditional carafes were mouth-blown from lead crystal to ensure high clarity and resonance. Decorative features were added using hand-cutting wheels for neck panel fluting and starburst bases, alongside copper-wheel acid etching for detailed insignia.

Authentic period pieces display crisp cut edges, accurate hand-etched monograms or cyphers, and minor irregular inclusions typical of early glass production. They also exhibit appropriate age-related wear on the resting contact point of the base.

A crystal carafe can be placed on a wooden sideboard, brass drinks tray, or bar cart to create a focal point. Combining clear glass with darker background surfaces allows cut fluting and etched details to catch the surrounding light.

Wash glass carafes individually by hand using lukewarm water and a mild non-abrasive detergent. Avoid sudden temperature changes and mechanical dishwashers to prevent thermal shock, scratching, or dulling of the glass surface.
