Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Established in Spain during the eighteenth century, La Granja de San Ildefonso was a royal glass manufactory renowned for producing high-quality lead glass decorated with intricate wheel engraving and gilding influenced by European Rococo and Neoclassical styles.

Craftsmen blew the glass form by hand before applying decorative motifs using copper-wheel engraving techniques. Gold leaf or liquid gold was subsequently applied into or over the engraved details and fired at a controlled temperature to fuse the gilding to the glass surface.

Authentic period glassware typically exhibits slight inclusions or air seeds within the glass matrix, a pontil mark on the underside of the base, minor variations in wall thickness from hand-blowing, and surface wear on the gilding consistent with age.

Antique glass tumblers can be displayed on a sideboard tray, arranged within a glass-fronted cabinet, or placed on open shelving alongside neutral ceramics to highlight the contrast between clear glass and metallic accents.

Clean the glass by hand using lukewarm water and gentle dish soap, avoiding hot water, abrasive cloths, or prolonged soaking, which can loosen or degrade fragile surface gilding.
