Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A 19th-century Victorian country housekeeper cupboard is rendered in natural pine with a pale golden timber tone. The piece has a moulded cornice top and sits on a simple plinth base, showing four panelled doors fitted with small brass drop ring handles and brass latches at the top. The timber displays visible grain patterns and knots consistent with traditional pine construction. Measuring 115 cm high, 183 cm wide and 57 cm deep, the cupboard provides substantial storage capacity for utility rooms, hallways or living spaces. The interior houses ample shelving behind its four doors, making it practical for linen, crockery or general household organization in a traditional or rustic home setting.

FAQs

A housekeepers cupboard is a substantial wooden storage piece traditionally used in 18th and 19th-century country residences to organise linens, pantry stores, and household essentials.

These cabinets were constructed using slow-grown Scots pine or pitch pine, featuring solid panelled doors, mortise and tenon joinery, and brass or iron handles.

Authentic pieces display evidence of historical craftsmanship, such as hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass backplates or drop-ring handles, cast-iron latches, and subtle wood shrinkage along the door panels.

This type of cupboard functions efficiently in a modern kitchen or dining area as a freestanding larder or pantry, contrasting warm timber grain against clean neutral walls.

Keep the timber clear of direct heat sources and apply a clear beeswax polish biannually to seal the grain, maintain hydration, and prevent drying out.
