Vintage Double Strand Cultured Pearl Necklace with 14ct Gold Diamond Clasp Circa 1950s

A fabulous 1950s double-strand cultured pearl necklace, beautifully finished with an unusual diamond-set 14ct gold clasp.

The necklace is composed of two graduated-length strands of beautifully matched cultured pearls, each measuring approximately 7mm. The pearls display an attractive creamy silver-ivory body colour with delicate pink overtones and a lovely lustre.

Each pearl is individually hand-knotted on silk, allowing the two strands to fall gracefully together around the neckline.

A particularly appealing feature is the pillow-shaped 14ct gold clasp, decorated with an attractive quilted lattice design and set with five small sparkling diamonds. The clasp is sufficiently decorative to be worn traditionally at the back, positioned elegantly to one side, or brought around to the front as a focal point.

The reverse of the clasp is marked 585, confirming 14ct gold, together with the maker's initials JKa. It closes securely with a box fitting and additional safety clip; the tongue is also marked 585.

At a substantial 58 grams, this is a luxurious and beautifully wearable vintage pearl necklace with a particularly distinctive clasp.
