This Edwardian diamond and platinum pendant dates from circa 1910 and belongs to the style of the period. The piece is fashioned from silver-coloured platinum and features a teardrop silhouette, an openwork filigree frame, millegrain borders, and circular floral clusters. The central area contains a collet-set Old European cut diamond surrounded by pavé-set diamonds, leaf motifs, and linear arrangements of stones, while nine five-petalled floral heads adorn the outer circumference. An independently set diamond suspends the entire drop from a fine chain. The pendant measures 0.382 cm high, 3.4 cm wide, and 45.94 cm deep. In a modern home, this jewellery item is worn as a personal accessory for special celebrations, milestones, and formal events. The design includes a chevron-shaped upper border, ring loops, and a spring-loaded lobster clasp securing the chain at the reverse. The composition incorporates millegrain edges along the metalwork and a symmetrical arrangement of petalled flower motifs encircling the lower and lateral sections of the frame.

Pendants from the Edwardian era, spanning approximately 1901 to 1915, are recognised for their delicate openwork, floral motifs, and lightweight platinum settings designed to showcase diamonds.

Platinum offered unmatched strength, allowing jewellers to construct refined millegrain edges and lace-like filigree patterns that held diamonds securely without excessive metal weight.

Authentic pieces from this period typically feature Old European cut or single cut diamonds, fine hand-applied millegrain edging, openwork filigree, and platinum construction.

An openwork diamond drop pendant pairs effectively with clean-lined eveningwear, tailored blazers, or low neckline dresses to allow the intricate metalwork to remain the focus.

Clean gently using warm water, mild liquid soap, and a soft brush, ensuring no harsh chemicals are used, and store individually in a fabric pouch to prevent rubbing.
