Description

A Unusual Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Repoussé Snuff Box richly decorated in high-relief with a pastoral garden scene to the lid. The central panel depicts a young woman with a watering can beside an urn and foliage, framed by elaborate rococo scrollwork.

The interior is finished in a warm gilt wash, a traditional feature used to protect contents and prevent tarnish transfer. Hallmarked for Chester, 1900. Marked ‘G.N, R.H’ for makers ‘George Nathan & Ridley Hayes’.
