Antique Rosewood Open Bookcase

An antique rosewood open bookcase, of attractive and decorative form. Constructed in rosewood, the bookcase has the characteristic deep reddish-brown. The polished surface gives the wood a warm, lustrous appearance. It features two fixed open shelves with a moulded upper gallery and raised back, supported by slender turned columns with finely turned detailing. The upper section is further enhanced by a shaped backboard, while the front is decorated with a finely carved bead and reel border. Overall, a charming example.

CONDITION REPORT:

In lovely antique condition, commensurate with age and use. The rosewood retains a beautiful warm colour and attractive natural figuring throughout. There is a small area of historic veneer repair to the front edge, which is discreet and not particularly noticeable. There are some minor marks, scratches and signs of age and use throughout, including to the top as expected. The bookcase remains structurally solid and sound, with all three shelves secure. Overall, a lovely example in very good condition with excellent colour and decorative appeal.
