MebleinUK has dated this Edwardian Bureau Bookcase Desk to the Edwardian era.
A particularly attractive feature of this piece is its unusually slim and compact proportion, measuring only 64 cm wide while providing a combination of book storage, display space, writing surface and concealed storage.

The upper bookcase section features a single glazed door with decorative geometric astragal glazing. Behind the door is a spacious interior fitted with adjustable wooden shelves, allowing the arrangement to be altered to accommodate books, decorative objects or collections.

Below is the traditional fall-front bureau. The front lowers to create a practical writing surface suitable for correspondence, paperwork or modern use with a laptop. Inside is a fitted arrangement of pigeonholes, small drawers and a central cupboard, retaining the traditional character of an English writing bureau.

A further drawer and enclosed cupboard to the lower section provide useful additional storage.
The piece stands on traditional bracket feet and is finished in a rich, dark mahogany tone, giving it an understated and elegant appearance.

Importantly, the bureau retains its original key.
Good antique condition with a solid and sturdy construction.
The piece displays genuine signs of age and previous use, including surface marks, scratches, variations in colour and wear to the writing surface.
