Salisbury Antiques Centre has dated this Camphor Wood Campaign Trunk to the 1880s.

The hinged lid is fitted with a recessed brass carrying handle, with further brass carrying handles to either side. The front retains its brass escutcheon and additional recessed handle.
The lid opens to reveal a spacious interior and a useful internal candle box to one side.

The beautifully figured camphor wood has developed a particularly attractive warm golden colour and patination, complemented by the aged brass fittings.
A good decorative and practical example of a traditional campaign travelling trunk.
