Description:
This is a fine quality antique English small Art Deco tallboy, constructed from stunning mirror-matched figured and burr walnut, comprising a large area for hanging clothes, with storage shelves, circa 1930, in excellent original condition.
Designed with two large cupboard doors, which are decorated with a band of burr, figured and straight walnut timbers, the storage cupboard really stands out. The doors open to reveal a large storage, comprising a large hanging section for clothes, with a metal telescopic hanging rail. Above is a central glass hinged drawer which opens to reveal a deep narrow storage section, flanked by two open cubby hole shelves. The left-hand door features its original sliding bolts, to secure the door when closed and the right-hand door retains its original locking chrome sprung ball. The Art Deco tallboy sits on a recessed plinth and retains its original backboard. There is a manufacturers’ label on the back of the small Art Deco wardrobe, which provides a lovely provenance of this item. It reads “J. H. Stringer Ltd., Manufacturing Furnishers, Stourbridge”

Condition Report:
The tallboy has been cleaned and French polished, by hand, to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the polish is in a very good condition. The tallboy retains all its original fittings. The doors retain the original internal door latches and original Art Deco brass handles, all of which are present and in excellent condition. The doors close flush to the frame. The interior glass drawer is in good condition as is the chrome telescopic hanging rail. The Art Deco tallboy retains its original backboard and stands on a recessed plinth base. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
