Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A caddy spoon is a specialized short-handled utensil designed to scoop loose tea leaves directly from a tea caddy into a teapot. Emerging in the late eighteenth century alongside the rise of imported tea, these spoons were designed to fit entirely inside small tea caddy compartments.

Georgian caddy spoons were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked at assay offices such as Birmingham or London. Makers often incorporated techniques like hand-chasing, die-stamping, and bright-cut engraving to ornament the handles and bowls.

Authentic pieces carry official British hallmarks, including the makers mark, sovereigns head duty mark, town mark, date letter, and the lion passant indicating sterling purity. The weight, construction lines, and age-consistent wear near the edges or touchmarks also verify provenance.

Small antique silver pieces can be displayed on a dark wooden sideboard, within a glass cabinet, or alongside a vintage tea service tray. They also function well as decorative wall-mounted collectibles or as part of a curated dining room vignettes.

Clean silver gently using a non-abrasive silver polishing cloth or a mild soapy water solution, ensuring complete drying afterwards. Avoid harsh chemicals or dipped cleaners, which can strip natural oxidisation from deep engraved details.
