Superb Pair 19th-Century Gilded Bronzed Dog Candlestick Holders 33.5 cm Tall

Brief Description:

This is a truly superb and unusual pair of original 19th-century bronzed and gilded figural Candlestick Holders, each beautifully modelled with a wonderful hunting hound.

Dating to the Victorian period, they form a genuine opposing pair, with the two hounds facing one another when displayed together.

Each decorative candlestick features a naturalistically modelled hound beneath a tall, wonderfully rustic tree-form stem, embellished with contrasting gilded foliage and terminating in a decorative candle sconce.

Constructed from a combination of Spelter, Lead and Brass, the pieces are of excellent weight and quality, with particularly attractive detailing throughout.

The combination of the rich dark bronzed finish and beautifully aged gilding gives the pair a fabulous antique patina and tremendous decorative appeal.

Both candlesticks remain in beautiful condition for their considerable age and display magnificently as a pair.

Standing approximately 13.2 inches tall, they are substantial enough to make an impression without being overly large and would look superb upon a mantelpiece, console table, sideboard or dining table.
