Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These interesting table lamps date from around 1900 and follow a Romanesque 12th-century style. Made from brass with a gold-coloured lacquered finish, the pieces are paired with cream pleated fabric shades. Each lamp stands on a tripod base decorated with chased foliate patterns, supporting a knapped stem with rounded, cast relief ornaments along the shaft. The original, unrestored metalwork is paired with new, old-style fabric cables. Each lamp measures 44 cm high by 30 cm wide by 30 cm deep. In a modern interior, this matching pair functions as practical lighting placed on a sideboard top, a living room console, or a bedside table. The warm metallic tones and traditional profile suit period-style rooms, studies, or hallways, providing directed downward illumination while adding a decorative focal point to interior surfaces.

FAQs

Romanesque Revival lighting incorporates design elements inspired by medieval Europe, such as sturdy tripod bases, knapped shafts, and detailed surface chasing or relief work.

These lamps are predominantly constructed from cast or wrought brass and bronze, frequently featuring detailed engraving paired with fabric or silk pleated shades.

Authentic pieces feature substantial visual and physical weight, hand-chased ornamentation, historically accurate wiring or conversion fittings, and natural patination on the brass surface.

Positioning a matched pair symmetrically on a modern sideboard or console table creates structured balance and introduces tactile contrast against smooth modern surfaces.

Dust the brass regularly using a dry microfibre cloth, avoiding abrasive polish that strips historic patination, and clean fabric shades using a soft brush vacuum attachment.
