Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The French Rococo style, originating in the eighteenth century and revived during the late nineteenth century, is characterised by asymmetrical curves, C-scrolls, naturalistic foliage, and elaborate ornamentation. In barware, this design aesthetic is expressed through heavily embellished metal collars, handles, and spouts integrated with clear or cut glass bodies.

These items typically combine a molded or blown glass body with electroplated nickel silver or solid silver mounts. The metalwork is cast or chased with decorative motifs and fitted precisely around the glass neck and rim.

Authentic nineteenth-century examples often feature maker stamps, electroplate marks (such as EPNS or French silversmith hallmarks) on the collar or handle base, alongside hand-fitted metal mounts. Additionally, period examples exhibit natural wear on the glass base and characteristic oxidisation on the silver plating.

Position the item as a decorative focal point on a sideboard top, bar cart, or dining table alongside contemporary glassware. Combining ornate antique metalwork with clean, modern lines creates a balanced contrast within contemporary interior schemes.

Rinse the internal glass body with lukewarm water and mild detergent, taking care not to submerge the outer metalwork unnecessarily. Clean the silver-plated exterior gently using a soft cloth and non-abrasive silver polish to remove tarnish while preserving the electroplated finish.
