Rare William Iv/early Victorian Bristol Blue Three Ring Rum Decanter

Description

This is a William IV/early Victorian Bristol blue three neck ring decanter and stopper dating from the first half of the 19th century, c1840.

The decanter is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the base consistent with some 200+ years of age and use. There is a polished out pontil mark on the base of the decanter.

The decanter was blown in a deep Bristol blue coloured glass which has been engraved with a faux label for "Rum". It has a plain neck with three applied annular neck rings. It measures 10.3 cm (4.1 inches) in diameter at its widest point. The stopper is of mushroom form and is possibly the original. It is of the right form, colour/shade but rocks gently in the neck. Assembled, the decanter measures 25.5 cm (10.2 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.

It weighs in at 770 g. (~ 1 lb. 11 oz.).
