Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Timuri Baluch carpets were traditionally woven by nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes inhabiting the border regions between eastern Persia and western Afghanistan. These weavers developed distinct geometric patterns, including the pencil box motif, utilising deep, dark colour palettes derived from natural dyes.

Baluch carpets are typically constructed entirely from hand-spun wool, comprising both the wool pile and the underlying warp and weft foundation. Goat hair or camel wool is occasionally used for selvedge reinforcement or accents, woven together using fine asymmetrical hand-knotting techniques.

Authentic pieces feature dark indigo, madder red, and terracotta tones, often with subtle abrash colour variations from small dye batches. Additional indicators include flat-woven webbed ends, dark selvedges wrapped in wool or goat hair, and a soft, supple handle due to all-wool construction.

A dark geometric tribal carpet works exceptionally well to anchor a room with light wood floors or stone tiles. It adds visual structure and warmth to minimalist, rustic farmhouse, or traditional Gentlemans Library interiors when placed beneath a coffee table or seating group.

Suction-only vacuuming is recommended to prevent damage to the wool pile fibers; never use a rotary beater bar. Rotate the carpet annually to ensure even wear, use a high-quality rug underlay, and seek specialist professional cleaning when required.
