Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Baluch and Timuri carpets originated from nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes inhabiting the border regions between eastern Persia (Iran) and western Afghanistan. Crafted primarily during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, these floor coverings are recognised for their dark, rich colour palettes and geometric or stylized botanical motifs.

These carpets are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool for both the pile and the foundation, though goat hair is occasionally used for selvedges. Dyes were traditionally derived from natural vegetable and mineral sources, producing deep shades of indigo, madder red, dark brown, and aubergine.

Authentic pieces feature a soft, supple hand feel, asymmetrical knotting, and a distinctly dark palette featuring indigo, dark red, and plum shades. The design typically incorporates repeat geometric motifs, column structures, or stylized tree patterns surrounded by multiple decorative borders.

A dark antique carpet serves as an anchoring element in neutral or dark-toned rooms, complementing natural wood furniture, leather upholstery, and brass accents. Place it centrally in living rooms, dining spaces, or study areas to introduce texture and historical character.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating beater bar to prevent pile damage. Place a high-quality rug pad underneath to reduce wear, rotate the carpet annually to ensure even exposure, and consult a professional specialist for deep cleaning.
