Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in nineteenth-century Wales, these pieces typically feature a two-part construction with a glazed upper display cabinet positioned over a solid timber base of drawers and cupboards. They reflect regional woodworking traditions that prioritized native hardwoods and functional storage.

These cabinets were constructed using solid European or British oak, often featuring hand-cut joinery such as dovetail drawer joints. Glazing bars held individual panes of drawn glass, while brass or turned timber knobs secured the doors and drawers.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-planed surfaces, irregular drawer linings, and hand-cut dovetails behind drawer fronts. Original glass panes often display slight ripples or air bubbles, and the timber shows natural patination and shrinkage marks around joints over time.

Place the cabinet against a modern painted wall to highlight its timber grain and silhouette. Use the upper glazed section to house curated collections of ceramics, glassware, or books, balancing traditional joinery with modern decorative items.

Apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year to nourish the oak and protect its patina. Avoid placing the item near direct heat sources or in direct sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage, surface cracking, or fading of the wood colour.
