Robert Belcher Antiques has dated this Anglo Indian Silver Jar to the 1900s.
This superbly detailed low profile jar and cover are raised onto three shaped and engraved feet.

The cover has similar intricate fine decorative work with numerous single figures within a matching scrolled and panelled boarder.
At the raised and moulded centre there is a further foliate and acanthus boarder rising to a mythical beast which acts as a finial or lifting knob.

The cover has been beautifully made and has a very precise push on fit, which is remarkable bearing in mind this intricate and decorative piece would have been hand worked out of a flat sheet, unlike European pieces of silver, which are often cast or spun to produce their profile.
