EUROPE AND WORLDWIDE

Through our trusted international shippers we will source the most competitive quote for delivery to your door. All items are wrapped and packed by the specialist shippers.

We are happy to make initial arrangements for worldwide shipments on your behalf. However, please note that the shipping payment is made by you the customer directly with the shippers. Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A joint stool, or joined stool, is a timber seating form popular in sixteenth and seventeenth-century Europe, constructed by joiners using mortise and tenon joints held with wooden pegs.

Traditional joint stools were constructed primarily from solid native hardwoods such as oak, featuring turned legs, stretchers for structural stability, and hand-carved friezes.

Authentic period examples feature handmade pegged mortise and tenon joinery, irregular hand-hewn timber surfaces, signs of natural wear to the lower stretchers, and oxidisation around wooden pegs.

An oak joint stool functions as a versatile occasional side table beside an armchair, a bedside display surface, or an accent piece in a contemporary setting.

Care involves regular dusting with a soft cloth and periodic application of a beeswax polish, while keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and extreme humidity changes.
