Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian decorative vase from 1900 is an English porcelain and bone china piece finished in white, deep cobalt blue, and rich gold. It displays a bulbous body set with a central hand-painted floral panel featuring pink, yellow, and green blooms, flanked by heavy raised gilt scrollwork and scrolling handles with white porcelain mask terminals. The flared neck is trimmed with gold and dark blue glaze, and the piece stands on a circular gilded foot. The measurements are 15 cms in width, 15 cms in depth, and 29 cms in height. In a contemporary or traditional interior, the vase suits placement on a mantelpiece or as a centrepiece on a side table. It functions as a decorative display vessel that brings traditional colour and detailed ornament to various domestic settings.

FAQs

Royal Doulton porcelain from the Victorian and Edwardian periods is recognised for its elaborate hand-painted decoration, rich cobalt blue glazes, and heavy gilding.

These vessels were produced using fine porcelain or bone china, decorated with hand-applied enamel paints, and finished with raised paste gilding before firing.

Look for the makers mark stamped or impressed on the underside, often accompanied by artist signatures, monogram marks, or painted pattern numbers.

Position the piece on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or console table as a focal accent, pairing it with clean-lined contemporary furniture to create visual contrast.

Dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive pads, and prolonged exposure to moisture, which can erode the gilding.
