A Betty Joel stepped bookcase with four open compartments and two drawers, each with a ball bearing catch, a feature of her work, with stepped rectangular handles. Made from London plain tree, with first class dovetails to the drawers and frame.
Betty Joel designed furniture, textiles and interiors, and had shops in Sloane Square and Knightsbridge. The Studio Magazine featured her work between 1927 and 1937. Today the quality and design of her pieces are highly regarded.
