Air twist glasses feature elongated stems enclosing fine spiral air threads, created during the mid-18th century by drawing out air bubbles trapped within the molten metal.

These vessels are typically crafted from potash-lime glass or early lead crystal, characterised by a relative weightlessness compared to later heavy Victorian glass.

Authentic pieces often exhibit characteristic pontil marks on the underside of the folded foot, minor surface wear, and subtle optical distortions within the handmade glass matrix.

Displaying historical stemware inside a glazed cabinet or on a sideboard allows light to catch the intricate details, adding a layer of tactile heritage to modern spaces.

Hand washing in lukewarm water with a mild detergent is essential; abrasive materials and dishwashers must be avoided to protect the fragile engraved surfaces.
