A richly carved and highly decorative 19th century Italian carved Venetian wooden lantern.

Of large proportions and with a wonderful mellow patina, it features a glazed colonnaded central section with a pierced domed scaled roof and tapering base.

The whole profusely carved with srolls, swags, shellwork and caryatids.
