Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Silver photo frames from the Edwardian and George V eras typically feature refined geometric borders paired with classical motifs such as bow-knots, ribbons, and swags. Manufactured predominantly between 1900 and 1920, they reflect a transition from heavy Victorian ornamentation to clean, neoclassical symmetry.

These pieces consist of a thin sheet of sterling silver (925 purity) stamped or worked into shape, which is then mounted onto a stable structural core. The reverse side usually features a wooden or velvet-covered backing panel with an easel stand for tabletop display.

Authentic British pieces carry a full set of official assay office hallmarks, including the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark, a makers mark, and a specific date letter. Frames produced in 1912 will display the date letter corresponding to that assay year.

A polished silver frame provides a metallic accent that pairs well on mahogany bedside tables, marble mantelpieces, or structured office desks. Placing silver frames alongside textured ceramics or books creates a balanced contrast of surfaces.

Dust the silver and textile backing regularly with a soft microfibre cloth. To remove tarnish, apply a specialized silver polishing cloth or mild cream, avoiding contact with the fabric reverse to prevent staining or chemical degradation.
