Pair Of Georgian Green Glass Rummers, Gilded At Absolon Factory

This is a pair of late Georgian rounded bucket-bowl Bristol green rummers dating from the beginning of the 19th century, c1820, and attributed to the William Absolon factory in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. William died in 1818 but the factory carried on for a number of years afterwards. The glasses were probably brought in as blanks and then the gilded decoration applied in Yarmouth.
 
The glasses are in excellent condition. They show age related wear and tear consistent with nearly 200 years of use. In particular they show wear to the gilding. The gilding on one glass appears to read ''Accept this trifle that I give and let me in your memory live - Ann Dyball''. The other shows the name ''Christine Easson'' below a ducal crown.
 
The glasses were blown in Bristol green glass and measure 7.6 cm (3 inches) in diameter across the bowl rims and are 14.8 cm (5.9 inches) in height. The bowls are rounded bucket-shaped and are moulded with a band of eight vertical ribs to the bottom ha...
